The aim of the extension to the Grade I listed 12th century church was to provide a viable rural church with modern facilities for the congregation to enjoy.
We were pleased to learn that our design for the traditional extension was recognised with the Ecclesiastical Award at the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards 2020.
At the heart of 'Constructive Conservation' is a recognition that for heritage assets to survive, they need to adapt and remain relevant to the community and meet the occupant's changing needs.
The 'linked extension' employs a traditional design that reflects the host church providing a community meeting room, lavatory and small kitchen with wheelchair accessibility from an extended car park improving the facilities and flexibility of the rural church to meet the needs of a modern and inclusive congregation and provide a space for community events.
