HISTORIC & LISTED BUILDINGS

We work with our clients to achieve consent for works to Listed Buildings and buildings in Conservation Areas often working to ensure that the building can continue to be used and enjoyed to the full meeting the needs of modern users whilst preserving and enhancing its character.

Good 'Constructive Conservation' is a balance between the needs of the building, the client and the requirements of the Local Planning Authority, allowing buildings to 'adapt to survive'.

Before going into private practice Douglas was Historic Building, Conservation and Design Adviser at West Sussex County Council and is a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservators (IHBC)

We use an 'Integrated Approach' to architecture and planning and are pleased to have been recognised with several projects being awarded Sussex Heritage Trust Awards.

We have enjoyed working on many projects involving historic and listed buildings, each bringing their own unique challenges and issues.
