Douglas Briggs
Founder and Senior Partner
B.Arch.(Hons) RIBA BTP MRTPI IHBC
During his apprenticeship Douglas worked for Robert Matthew Johnson & Marshall (RMJM) and Sir Basil Spence, Glover and Ferguson in his home country, Scotland.

After qualifying and becoming a member of the RIBA in 1971, Douglas worked for the Scottish Special Housing Association (SSHA) before moving to Chichester to take up a role as West Sussex County Council's Historic Building, Conservation and Design Adviser, qualifying as a Town Planner and becoming a member of the RTPI in 1983.
​
Leaving Local Authority Practice, Douglas became a Partner in Critchell Harrington & Partners Ltd.

​Douglas founded the Douglas Briggs Partnership in 1991 as a Consultant, Chartered Architect, Chartered Town Planner, Urban Designer, Development and Heritage Building Consultant as a member of the IHBC and has been authorised by the Diocese of Chichester to give professional advice and services for works to Listed Churches and other Buildings.

Paul Hughes
Associate: Chartered Architect and Planner
BA(Hons) DipArch MA(PPP) RIBA MRTPI
After qualifying as a Chartered Architect Paul worked in an architectural practice in the housing sector providing affordable homes for Local Authorities and Housing Associations, building up an extensive knowledge of sustainable design and construction techniques.

​Paul developed an interest in Historic Building and Conservation, completing Award Winning projects on the restoration of a Grade II Listed former Public House and a Nursing Home and joined the Douglas Briggs Partnership in 2005 to develop his interest in Conservation and how Historic Buildings could be adapted in Sustainable Ways and realising the benefits of the Integrated Approach, qualified as a Chartered Town Planner while at the practice.

​Coming from a farming background, Paul has developed the practice's approach to Agricultural applications, working on projects such as on-farm Anaerobic Digesters, large Glasshouses and Polytunnels, and has extensive knowledge of Prior Notification procedures and Permitted Development Rights.

Alexander Hall
Associate: Chartered Architect and Planner

A qualified architect and chartered town planner Alex joined the practice in 1998and has worked on Polo Grounds, Stately Homes and award winning projects with Listed Buildings, and Churches.
Using the Integrated Approach to Architecture and Town Planning to negotiate changes to heritage assets and complex planning applications.
Alex has been authorised by the Diocese of Chichester to give professional advice and services for works to Listed Churches and other Buildings.

Louise Shaw
Partner: Chartered Planner
BA(Hons) MA MRTPI
Before joining her father Douglas in his practice, Louise worked in Local Authority Development Control, becoming qualified as a chartered Town Planner.
Louise joined the practice in 2004 and working with Douglas developed the Integrated Approach to Architecture and Town Planning, representing clients in consultations and at appeals.
